India is where Buddhism first originated. In India, there are many pilgrimage places that are highly respected by Buddhists, including Bodhgaya, Patna, Kushinagar, Vaishali, etc. These Buddhist sites provide visitors with a level of mental peace and spirituality that is unmatched. As a result, religious tourists visit these locations all year long.
We do not commit to 5 star category or luxury hotels throughout the tour but the least you can expect is comfortable and clean hotels with almost all modern facilities. Each hotel has been carefully selected for its comfort, convenience, and security. These are without a doubt the best hotels available in each of these areas, we can state with certainty. Each of our hotels will have WiFi, air conditioning, and a private ensuite bathroom (although in some locations the connection will not extend to the rooms and will only be usable in common areas like the lobby or restaurant). Although the majority of these hotels lack heat, they can, upon request, supply additional blankets and/or a space heater.
On this tour, you will be visiting a lot of religious sites, meet other pilgrims, monks and even interact with locals. Keeping in mind the religious and at some places conservative sentiments, we recommend you to pack clothes that are suitable for warm-hot weather but those should cover your body. Long sleeved cotton tops and full pants, scarves, you can also buy some traditional stuff to wear. Men can opt for t-shirts or shirts with full pants/pyjamas. We advise you to carry caps/hats, umbrellas and comfortable slip ons or shoes.
As the name of the tour suggests, we will be visiting a lot of places connected to the history and worship places of the religion. However, the tour also includes visiting local attractions and some activities. For example: When visiting Sarnath, you will be staying in Varanasi and will explore the ghats and other attractions there.
Not just with this tour, typically all our tours include comfortable and clean accommodation according to the theme of the tour, breakfast, arrival & departure transfers to the airport, any transportation (like road, rail or flights) that is part of the tour and the local guide fee. Anything extra apart from this is chargeable unl;ess specified otherwise or mentioned in your customised tour.
We are here to assist you with anything or everything you may need to our maximum capacity. We can help you with the online visa application but for the rest of the process you will have to be present.
We request you to please go through our tour programs thoroughly. Some of the tours also include visits to sites of Buddhist significance in Nepal & Sri Lanka. For an extensive and detailed tour of the sites, you can always ask us to design a tour as per your liking covering India, Nepal, Sri Lanka or even Thailand & China.
50% of the total tour amount is needed to be paid for booking a tour with us. For the balance of payment we request the guests to clear the same at least 60-30 days prior to their arrival.
The Buddhist Circuit in India refers to a collection of sacred sites that are deeply connected to the life and teachings of Lord Buddha. These destinations include places where Buddha was born, attained enlightenment, gave his first sermon, and passed away. Key locations in the circuit include Bodh Gaya, Sarnath, Kushinagar, Lumbini (Nepal), and others, offering a profound spiritual journey through India’s rich Buddhist heritage.
Buddhist Circuit include:
Bodh Gaya is the most important Buddhist pilgrimage site as it is the location where Lord Buddha attained enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree. The Mahabodhi Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, marks the spot of this monumental event in the Buddha’s life, making Bodh Gaya the spiritual heart of the Buddhist Circuit.
Yes, Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha, is located in Nepal but is a significant part of the Buddhist Circuit. Cultural India Tours often include Lumbini in their packages, allowing you to visit this sacred site as part of a cross-border pilgrimage journey.
Absolutely! While the Buddhist Circuit is primarily focused on the life of Buddha and his teachings, the serenity and historical significance of these places make them appealing to travelers from all faiths. The peaceful ambiance and rich cultural heritage offer an enriching experience for anyone interested in spirituality, history, and meditation.
Most sites in the Buddhist Circuit, such as Bodh Gaya, Sarnath, and Nalanda, are easily accessible to foreign and domestic tourists. However, Lumbini in Nepal may require a visa and special entry permits. Cultural India Tours provides detailed guidance on any necessary documentation to ensure smooth travel.
Yes, Dharamshala, home to the Dalai Lama and a prominent center of Tibetan Buddhism, is an important stop in the Buddhist Circuit Tour. It offers a serene environment amidst the Himalayas, where you can learn about Tibetan culture, participate in meditation sessions, and visit Tibetan monasteries.
