Introduction

Lingti is a little known valley in eastern Spiti in Himachal Pradesh. In mid 1980's this valley was notified as part of the Kibber Wildlife Sanctuary. This trek is a lovely way to explore life in the high altitude villages of Lingti. This trek is a 5 day expedition that covers the breathtaking and untouched valleys of Lingti. This Tour gives you an opportunity to experience the beauty of the Himalayas with astonishing Nature and is being crafted in such a way that a traveler should experience the legacy of cultural richness and the scenic beauty of the Himalayas in India so that his travelling to India should not only be a journey for him but an experience in itself.

Itinerary

Day 1

Lallung to Demul (4300 M) 12 Km

The trek from Lallung to Demul requires crossing the Lingti. Once over the footbridge and having the hamlet of Sanglung, located on a terrace above the lingti left bank, the route lies up narrow valley of the Demul Stream. Stay overnight in the camp.

Day 2

Demul to Langza 16 Km

The direct route, covering 16 Km, lies up the slopes behind the village, past the source of the Demul Stream, and over the ridge. Down the other side is a long, gentle traverse around the upper edge of a huge, marshy, green bowl, sloping to the cliff behind Lara, on the Spiti left bank. The path to Langza climbs gently out of Chame, to the upper catchment’s of Kaza Stream. Stay overnight in the camp.

Day 3

Langza to Kibber (4120 M) 18 Km

The 700 M climb is killing but the reward lies in stepping on hallowed ground since his holiness, the Dalai Lama, camped here for many days in 1983. Stay overnight in the camp.

Day 4

Kibber to La Darcha (4150 M) 11 Km

The fourth day out of Poh describes a semi-circle around the ridge behind Chicham to the famous meadows of Ladarcha. Ladarcha was the site of Spiti's annual barter trade fair in the old days. Stay overnight in the camp.

Day 5

La Darcha to Kiato (3950 M) 10 Km

The Last day's walk, takes one back to the main Spiti Valley along a newly built link road. Down the stream is the tiny, isolated hamlet of Chikzur and across the Spiti is the longer village of Pangmo. It is less than an hour to Kiato. Stay overnight in the camp.
