Fatehpur Sikri is a fascinating ghost city and it was built in the 16th century. Mughal Emperor Akbar, at the age of 26 years did not have a successor and founded this historical site, Fatehpur Sikri. He went to a saint called Shaikh Salim Chishti who used to live in a city called Sikri. His blessing gave Akbar 3 sons. In return as a gesture, Akbar built a whole new city in Sikri. Akbar named this new capital Fatehpur Sikri or the City of Victory. Fatehpur Sikri is one of the finest examples of Mughal architectural splendor. Buland Darwaza: The meaning of Buland is strong or huge in Persian. Buland Darwaza is located in the Fatehpur Sikri and it is one of the magnificent Mughal architectures available in Agra. It is also called as Gate of Magnificence. This beautiful Mughal structure is made up of Red and buff sandstone and is adorned by white and black marble.
