About:

Jantar Mantar is a famous astronomical monument or Observatory built by Maharaja Jai Singh in the year 1724 and is situated in Delhi and forms a part of a collection of five such observatories located in Jaipur, Ujjain, Delhi and Mathura. It has 13 architectural astronomy instruments which help to predict the movement and timings of the sun, moon and planets and is built in such a way that one can view the position of heavenly bodies with their naked eye alone. This observatory is still intact and works properly as they did in the olden days. Maharaja Jai Singh constructed here: The Samrat Yantra, the Jai Prakash, Ram Yantra and Misra Yantra and the temple of Bhairava to the east of the main site.
