About:
Man Singh Observatory is a famous astronomical monument or Observatory built by Maharaja Jai Singh in Varanasi and forms a part of a collection of five such observatories located in Jaipur, Ujjain, Delhi and Mathura. It has 13 architectural astronomy instruments which help to predict the movement and timings of the sun, moon and planets and is built in such a way that one can view the position of heavenly bodies with their naked eye alone. This observatory is still intact and works properly as they did in the olden days. Prime instruments within the observatory are the Samrat Yantra, the Digamsa Yantra, the Nadivalaya Yantra, the Chakra Yantra and Dakshinottara Bhitti Yantra. The structure is an appealing amalgamation of Mughal and Rajput architectural styles
