About:

Mattanchery Palace reflects Portuguese architecture and culture and is 12 km away from Ernakulam and is spread across two floors with a huge building and long halls. There is a central courtyard where Pazhayannur Bhagavathi, the deity of the royal family can be found. One can find two temples within the palace dedicated to Lord Krishna and the other to Lord Shiva. The museum is on the upper floor which displays European architecture in the palace as well. It is also famous for its mural paintings which depicts scenes from Ramayana, Kerala literature and puranic legends connected with Krishna. One can also see the images of deities  painted across several walls of the palace. The ladies chamber contains paintings depicting the marriage of Parvati with Shiva, while stories relating to Krishna Leela can be found in the adjoining rooms. Moreover, there are many exhibits in the museum like portraits of Cochin Kings, weapons, umbrellas, coins, stamps and swords.
